Gerald Cotten was the founder and CEO of QuadrigaCX, a Canadian cryptocurrency exchange. He passed away in December 2018 at the age of 30, reportedly due to complications from Crohn’s disease, while on a trip to India. However, due to Cotten’s exclusive access to the wallets, the funds became effectively inaccessible. Efforts to recover the funds were unsuccessful, and in February 2019, QuadrigaCX filed for creditor protection.
